Supervision
Supervision is one of the most important clinical relationships of one's career. It certainly was for me. It is a relationship built on trust, reflection, and curiosity. I provide supervision for post-graduate Washington LMHCAs & LMFTAs acquiring hours toward full licensure. Both individual and small group supervision is maintained in a supportive, challenging, and ethical environment for you to learn and grow professional credibility, knowledge, and confidence.
I currently have open spots for clinical supervision. Please contact me by email or phone to schedule a no-cost consultation so we can each ask questions, discuss specifics, and see if it's a fit!
- As a trauma-certified therapist in private practice, those clinicians interested in trauma, grief, illness, emdr, cbt, somatic, mindfulness, act, and/or eft orientations, may find working together particularly useful.
- Supervision will include, among other elements: Screening and assessment Case conceptualization Record keeping Counseling skills and therapeutic interventions Theory and applied knowledge Avoiding burnout Culturally responsive interventions Laws and ethics Professional standards and best practices Evaluation and gatekeeping
- Supervision is not individual therapy, but rather the state-required oversight in the journey towards full licensure. I meet all requirements set forth by WAC 246-809-234 and WAC 246-809-210.
Groups
Group screening is happening now for new groups. All groups meet virtually and are capped at 10 participants. Please email for current meeting days and times and availability. If you're new to Pine Light Counseling and not an existing therapy client, we’ll start with a no cost 15-20-minute screening call to learn more about your goals and determine whether a group space feels right. Kir's Group Work:Kir has been leading processing groups of all kinds for 30 years, both independently as well as through nonprofits, human rights organizations, universities, and county governments. Topics, group focus, or demographics have included grief, MS, refugees, women, teachers, healthcare professionals, war trauma, sex trafficking, houseless, anger, narrative medicine, art and art practices, and writing as a tool for processing, chronic illness, and mindfulness, meditation and stress management.
- Living with MS Processing Group: Managing symptoms, holding worry, navigating the medical system, coping with identity shifts, and a sense of isolation are just a handful of the challenges that often accompany an MS diagnosis. Our small-sized therapeutic groups can be a chance to feel supported, seen, and to learn strategies for stress and anxiety management in community with folks who truly understand. Groups include processing, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation.
- Grief & Loss Processing Group: Grief can be all consuming and isolating and nonlinear. It does not follow a schedule and is ongoing work–it's a part of us. It is exhausting and takes time to help our body learn how to carry this piece of ourselves. If there was a death in the family and we're parents, we're also managing the grief of our kids. Compounding it, most of the time people near us don't know how to truly support, and that can make things worse and lonely as the world keeps going. Groups will include processing, mindfulness, and nervous system regulating coping strategies.
- Mindfulness and Meditation Stress Management Processing Group: Stress and anxiety can manifest in a range of ways, affecting the nervous system, other aspects of our physiology, as well as our emotional state. A safe, therapeutic healing space conducive to restoration and processing can help with symptom management, and be an effective and transformative form of self-care. Sessions include brief stress processing, guided breathwork, mindfulness, grounding exercises, and group meditation to promote overall wellness.
- Grief & Loss Group for Parents & Caregivers: This group is geared for parents and caregivers navigating a death in the immediate family. Grief can stem from a recent death close to us, or be lingering and unresolved from our past. It can be all consuming and isolating and nonlinear. As parents or caregivers, we're also managing the grief of kids and other family members, and all the daily life changes and secondary traumas. Compounding it, often people near us don't know how to support, and that can make things worse. Groups will include mindfulness coping strategies. Women's Processing Group: Paused. Geared toward individuals identifying as women, this group is a safe space to explore and provide support for one another around issues such as stress, self esteem, anxiety, depression, stress management, trauma, feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and healthy relationships. We'll explore mindfulness coping tools, self care, writing to facilitate processing, and share our stories from the mundane everyday to the big life events or aspects of our history or sense of self we carry.

- "No One Gets It" is a common sentiment among those experiencing a recent death of someone near to them. This 3-hour workshop is a grief sensitivity workshop geared specifically for educators. We’ll explore how grief shows up in schools, how to speak with students and their caregivers, and how to build classrooms that feel safe when everything else doesn’t.
- Write Through It is a 3-hour writing workshop focused on owning your story and moving it forward. Incorporating elements of narrative therapy, this workshop will include essay writing, journaling, and poetry. Prompts provided.
- I Can't Unsee It is a 3-hour narrative medicine writing workshop geared specifically for medical professionals. Narrative medicine is a dynamic field to help promote coping and processing among healthcare professionals using reflective writing and storytelling elements from their work.
